About Derrick Lewis

Derrick Lewis "The Black Beast", born in New Orleans, United States on February 7, 1985, is a heavyweight mixed martial artist. At 6' 3", Lewis has a 79" reach, long for that height. The official UFC rankings have Lewis at #13 in the heavyweight division.

Lewis has fought professionally since 2010, debuting with Worldwide Gladiator. A 9-2 record outside the UFC came first. The UFC debut came at UFC on FOX: Werdum vs Browne in April 2014, where Lewis beat Jack May by KO/TKO. Lewis's UFC record stands at 20-12 after 32 fights.

Knockouts define Lewis's UFC career: 16 of 20 wins came by KO or TKO. A notable win came against Francis Ngannou, a UFC title-fight winner. Lewis ranks #1 in UFC history for most knockout wins.

Lewis needed only 0:33 to beat Marcos Rogerio de Lima at UFC 291: Poirier vs. Gaethje 2, the fastest UFC win of that career. Lewis's record in UFC title fights stands at 0-2. Before and outside the UFC, Lewis fought in Legacy FC (3-0) and Fight to Win (1-0).

Most recently, Lewis lost to Josh Hokit by KO/TKO at UFC Freedom 250 in June 2026.
